Thanet GhostWatch Walkabout Report
Dumpton Gap

Dumpton Gap
A view of Dumpton Gap - Photo: Bryn

Saturday 7th April, 2012.

Group: Bryn, Bob, Sarah, Claire and Sue.

Written by Bob.

19:50
We walked along the sea-wall promenade, down the end ramp and onto the beach towards the direction of Ramsgate.

20:07
Pictured right - light anomalies, probably moisture, near to the end of this ramp.

20:13
A short distance along the beach, all the group, apart from Sarah, heard what sounded like a woman's cry.
Shortly afterwards, this sound was heard again by the entire group except for Bob.

20:16
Sue heard this sound again.

20:19
Now approximately half-way between the two sea-walls, Sarah picked up on "Charlie" and the year "1976".

20:24
Sarah 'saw' a large shape falling over the cliff and, at the same time, Sue's vision was impaired by what she described as "a film across her eyes".

20:26
Sue reported hearing a clicking-type sound.

20:29
The entire group, with the exception of Claire, heard voices.

An EVP session was commenced but later examination of this recording revealed nothing unusual.
During this session, Bob detected a floral perfume odour, Sue sensed a presence and Claire heard a thump as though something had landed nearby.

20:36
Sarah, and then Claire, heard a whistle but neither of these two sounds were evident to the rest of the group.

Movement was 'seen' by several members.

We continued walking towards Ramsgate.

Just before we reached the start of the Ramsgate sea-wall, we turned around and headed back.

20:39
Approximately half way between the two sea-walls, Bryn remarked that his senses were now "tingling".
He felt two people had passed in this area, one as the result of severe head injuries but he didn't get the impression that either had fallen from the cliff.

20:46
We arrived back at Dumpton Gap and located at the top of the slope leading up to the sea-wall promenade (pictured right, photographed earlier).

Sarah reported hearing several footsteps.

Sue and Bob heard what sounded like female voices.

20:54
All the group, apart from Bob, heard a "ting" which sounded like metal being struck, which seemed to come from towards the bottom of the slope.
Sarah and Bryn thought this sounded like a bell.

20:55
An EVP session was commenced at the top of the slope but later examination of this recording revealed nothing unusual.

Sarah sensed a presence at the bottom of the slope.

20:58
Sue picked-up on an elderly woman by the name of "Elsie".

Claire, at the bottom of the slope, heard a clicking-type sound which she compared to a ratchet.

Sarah heard a female voice.

20:59
Sue asked-out and encouraged this woman to communicate.
She felt this lady was present because of what had happened here concerning the Revenue Men.

21:01
Bob saw a pinprick of light flash on the beach towards Ramsgate and Claire saw one in the same direction but on the cliff face.

Sue heard something land close to her as though a small object had been thrown.

Claire and Sue saw two more pinpricks of light and Sue reported hearing what sounded like a male voice.

Sarah witnessed a brief white light on one of the nearby beach-huts.

Claire was getting the impression of movement in a cliff recess further down the beach in the direction of Ramsgate.

Sarah was sensing movement at the bottom of the slope along with "bad vibes".

Claire felt something was moving towards us along the beach.

21:04
Bryn picked-up on a nurse or nurses.

21:07
Bob got the name "Maury" come into his head.

Several of the group heard movement.

21:10
Bob, at the bottom of the slope, saw a brief pinprick of light on the cliff face approximately fifty yards away towards Ramsgate.

Claire, halfway down the slope, heard what sounded like a deep male voice chanting.

21:11
An EVP session was commenced at the bottom of the slope but later examination of this recording revealed nothing unusual.

21:14
Sue heard movement at the bottom of the slope.

Claire reported seeing a reddish-pink pinprick of light on the cliff face.

Sarah could hear shouting which was not apparent to anyone else and then 'visualised' a large sailing ship passing by.

21:17
We left this area and headed over to the Broadstairs' side of the bay.

21:19
As we reached the centre of the bay, Sarah heard a scream which was not apparent to any other member.

21:37
With nothing to report from the opposite side of the bay, we returned to the slope.

21:49
As we approached the slope, Claire heard what sounded like a plastic bag being stood on.
There was such a bag down on the beach but there was no wind to have caused it to rustle or move.

22:00
Claire conducted an EVP session at the bottom of slope but later examination of this recording revealed nothing unusual.

When Claire returned to the top of the slope, she remarked that her eyes may have been playing tricks, but in the darkness it seemed as though there was a large group of military-type persons moving towards her.

22:15
End of Walkabout.

Bryn mentioned he had been picking-up on soldiers, dressed in blue tunics, and these were connected to the head injury he had got earlier.
